• 12 May 1877 
    Built at Feijenoord for the Royal Netherlands Navy as a screw steamship 4th class with barquentine rig and a retractable screw.
  • 1924 
    Transfered to Delfzijl to serve as living quarters for the students of the Nautical College therein. Renamed Abel Tasman.
  • 1995 
    The College closed. Since then laying in a basin in Den Helder. There have been plans to restore the vessel but no funds were available.
  • 30 April 2004 
    The vessel sank at her moorings, but was raised again the same year.
  • 2005 
    A foundation for restoring the vessel was established, and a 7-year restoration program is scheduled.
