Built of iron by Harland & Wolff, Belfast for Samuel Lawther & Harvey, Belfast. She was rigged as a four-masted barque carrying royals over double topgallant sails. - 1901
Sold to Johan Edgar, Liverpool and renamed California. - March 1911
Sold to Robert Mattsson, Mariehamn. She was then the largest sailing vessel in Finland. - 14 January 1913
Left South Shields under tow bound for Rotterdam. A sudden south easterly gale arose, and when attempting to turn back to the harbour tha hawser broke and the California drifted on to the rocks of St. Mary Island. Eight men were washed overboard and lost their lives.
