The Elissa was built in Aberdeen in 1877. She was initially a 3 masted Barque with a length of 205 feet, a draft of 10.5 feet, and a beam of 28 feet. She would later be named many names: Fjeld in 1897, Gustav in 1912, Christophous in 1959, Achaeos in 1967, Pionneer in 1969 and finally Elissa in 1977. She was preserved at Galveston in 1979 on July 20th. She had been rerigged from a barque to to a barquentine to a schooner and then back to a barque.
