The Lightning was a clipper bult in 1853. The Lightning set moonsails on her masts. This beautiful clipper was an archrival of the James Baines. She made a passage from Melbourne to Liverpool in 69 days. She burned up in 1869 at the age of 15 at 1:00 in the night. One of the many famous Makay Clippers.
