She was built in 1910. She was a whaleboat formerly. In 1912-1915, she was used in Shackleton's famous expedition. Shackleton took 4 other men in this small craft to South Georgia Island, 870 miles from his 22 men that he left behind. The small craft reached South Georgia intact and was put on display to this day.
The Caird is 22 feet long and has 2 masts with fore and aft sails, the main can set a square mainsail.
