This ship is briefly mentioned in the Holy Bible. We do not know much about this ship. We know that it was setting sail from Joppa, in Tel-Aviv Israel on a 2,500 mile journey to Tarshish or Tarteesus in southwestern Spain. This ship was probably a cargo freighter, because the Bible describes the cargo being thrown overboard, though we don't know what this ship carried, though according to John MacArthur it was likely timber, gold, and food and drink. I was probably 2 masted, both with a single square sail and a bowsprit with a small jib. We know that the ship was equipped also with oars. It suffered a severe storm which ceased when Jonah into the sea. The pagan sailors, probably Greeks or Phonecians cried out in repentance to the Lord, the God of Israel when the storm calmed, but the ship's fate beyond that is unknown.

Jonah 1:3 mentions this ship: I have included my favorite translations for you to see how it is written
